Amachan is the 88th 2013 NHK asadora written by Kankuro Kudo (Tiger and Dragon, Unobore Deka). It's about Amano Aki (Nounen Rena), a 16 year old girl from Tokyo who goes to her mother's former home in Sodegahama, a fishing village in Kitasanriku, Iwate prefecture for the summer break. She falls in love with the sea and its people, and decides to stay on to become an Ama (women divers who fetch clams and sea urchins for tourists) just like her grandmother, Natsu (Miyamoto Nobuko). Her decision is welcomed wholeheartedly by Natsu and the other locals. However, her mother Haruko (Koizumi Kyoko) does not like the idea at first. She has a strained relationship with Natsu, and her extreme dislike of the sea, diving and the countryside is one of the reasons why she left her hometown 24 years ago. Eventually, she decides to stay in Sodegahama with Aki, considering that she is contemplating on getting a divorce anyway and does not want to go back to her husband in Tokyo. She also notices that it might be good for Aki for she seems livelier and happier in Kitasanriku than in Tokyo. The road towards becoming a full-fledged Ama-san is tough for Aki as she encounters tests and hurdles. One day, a video of her as an Ama gets uploaded in the city's tourism website, transforming an ordinary high school girl into an overnight Internet sensation. Suddenly she is called upon to use this opportunity to attract tourists to a city suffering from depopulation...

I am writing these episode guides to help out non-Japanese speaking viewers who are interested in finding out what's going on in the drama.
I cannot make the commitment to sub it (see reason HERE) so please do not ask for subtitles.
Warning: Unlike the episode previews or sneak peeks which I usually write in my drama notes, this time, I am giving away the whole story (but not really too detailed, just plain summaries at the start but gets more detailed by Week 7), hence, there will be spoilers (Anyway, just by looking at the episode titles below, they're already little spoilers by themselves).
And pls. don't mind if I interject little comments about certain scenes (it's something I don't get to do when I sub).

UPDATE 1: Decided to sub it after all... Weekly Episode Guides will be put on hold for the meantime since my priority will be given to subbing this drama. I will update the Weekly Episode Titles though, just in case you're wondering what's going on in the story so far...

I wanted to thank you for doing the subs. I think of myself as an outsider because I'm probably one of the few males who are now into J doramas. I love Japanese movies and some of the actors I admire happen to be doing dramas as well. I first came into your blog when I was watching Eita and Ryuhei Matsuda in Mahoro. Needless to say, I could follow the drama with your subs and it really helped me understand the stories. It took me a while to let you know, but the opportunity arise when you also did Amachan, another drama I am reviewing.

I really hope you will continue doing the subs. Not only for my viewing pleasure but for others who rely on them to fully understand Japanese dramas.

2. If you have chosen one of them, click on any of the red, green or blue arrows, and it'll automatically download the torrent.

3. Open your utorrents. Click on 'File' on upper left hand. Click on "Add Torrent". Go to the torrent file you DLed. Click on it and open. A window will pop up and ask you if this is the file/s you want to download, and to show where it will place the file (usually the place where you made your last DL). If you're fine with it, click 'ok'.

4. Utorrents will do the rest. It will say how many peers you have, how many are seeding you the file, how much time left (the more seeders the faster the DL). Try to seed as well if you're done (meaning don't remove the file from the torrent as long as possible so to 'seed' to others, too). If you need to turn off your computer, it's okay. It will start where it left off once you turn it on again.

The duration will shorten after awhile.
Just be patient. It will take time bec. it is 15 weeks worth of episodes, after all. Anyway it's better than Direct download, right? Bec. you can turn it off and switch it on back again and will still continue, unlike Direct downloading.

You know, a hundred something episodes is a real commitment, I hesitated for so long, but looking at my friends' face seeing me laughing at Aki-chan so hard, I couldn't help but to say "yes, I will", hahaha.
I just started learning Japanese like a couple of months ago, God knows when I will be able to understand the language, let alone translating it :))

That's a great news! I watched Week 15 raw last night, just because I couldn't (or you may say, wouldn't) wait anymore. I only caught a glimpse of what it is about.
Once I tried translating a hardsubbed episode of Running Man, including timing it. After about 3 hours sitting in front of my pc, typing, translating (only from English), timing.. I then realized it was only about 15 minutes duration from the beginning of the show. Good God, I don't know how you fansubbers do this, really..

First of all, thanks for your hard work subbing this series, actually this is my first asadora that i have ever been watched..this series is my best ever dorama and i can't stopped to watched this dorama..addicted to Amachan..

i have question to ask, if you don't mind:

1)what software you use for subbing?it's Aegisub,Subtitile Workshop or subtitle Edit??currently i use Subtitle Edit to edit/revised sub, or insert sub in the PV and etc..
2) can i use your sub and translate to Malay??if you don't mind..
