This February 25 marks my 10th year as a Japanese drama fansubber. On this day, 10 years ago, I made my debut as a fansubber.

Halcali_Fan and I subbed "Deka Wanko", and on Feb. 25, 2011, we released the first episode. After that, I did solo projects. However, I wasn't really confident with my work. Thankfully, I teamed up with fellow fansubber Danburi (EarthBuri Team Subs) for memorable projects like Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi, Kagi no Kakatta Heya, Amachan, and Kodoku. Btw, Danburi served as my mentor as well, since she's a native Japanese speaker. She taught me a lot and was patient with me since I was/is a real slow learner. Sorry, Danburi-san! I miss our team-up, and will forever be indebted to you. But I relied on her so much, that it impeded my own growth. When she quit subbing, I was still afraid to be on my own. So I next teamed up with wilki, establishing "Wabi-Sabi Subs".
By the time I went solo again, I was a bit more confident, and was able to pull myself up by the bootstraps...

The jdrama landscape has also changed from the time I started. After ten years in this community, I've seen encoders, uploaders, subbers. Some are still around. Others have gone on to other things. Even actors and actresses, some favorites of mine, are no longer as active as before... and frankly, I'm not really excited about the new crop of young stars... It's not the same as before, and I don't expect it to be. Stars, people, and interests, after all, come and go, as most things in life.

Sorry for being so sentimental but anyway... I'm supposed to upload subs for a certain SP, to mark my 10th anniversary but I don't think I'll be able to finish in time. Anyway, I'm declaring it as a week long celebration so please expect a Wabi-Sabi Subs release this weekend.

I'd like to thank everyone for your support, visiting my blog, leaving replies, showing your appreciation. I may not reply, but I read them all, and get buoyed by your encouragement.
And to those who have contributed by way of paypal donation, thank you so much. Your contribution motivate me a great deal, making this work so much easier and less stressful! Please wait for something this March. I'll send you a little token of appreciation.
To those who are interested in helping out as well, you can click on the "donation" link at the pinned post above or HERE. Thank you so much~!

I will still sub for as long as I can. I know I still have a long way to go. I am my own worst critic, you see. But looking at my early solo projects like "Asuko March" and "Don Quixote", and comparing them with my latest one, "Cold Case 3", I am happy to note that there was at least, some progress (lol). I'm also grateful to see that I have grown a lot as a subber/translator. But I always remind myself that I will never be fluent, even if I study for another 10 or 20 years more. The language is just that hard. However, I am grateful for new Japanese friends I had the luck to meet during this journey, and whom I consult with from time to time...

So here's to gaining more friends along the way, new wonderful dramas to sub, and more fun, fruitful years on this language-learning journey...

Hello everyone~. I'm baaack.
I hope you are all faring well during this clusterfuck of a pandemic.

Anyway, I'm going back to subbing.
Just in case you wanna know why I was away...
- I needed more rest, kinda got burnt out more than I cared to admit.
- I was busy with work.
- I wasn't really raring to go back to subbing, to be honest. Subbing takes a lot of your time, and somehow, I don't know if I really want to go back to this again.

But now I'm ok since there's this quarantine thing. Have lots of free time. Also, I solved the problem with my aging laptop. It is now cooperating with me (so far) lol.

To those asking if I have a patreon account or if I could get one, I'll think about it.
I'm hesitating since fansubbing should be for free, and not for profit. But if it could help a bit in any way to entice me to continue subbing, why not?
But so far, I don't need to put one up yet. But thanks for the offer. Really appreciate it.

Since no one took it up (I really don't mind if someone else will), I'm taking a crack at Kodoku S8 Ep1 now. Been away for so long, I seemed to have forgotten how to do this lol.
BTW, I'm looking for 480p files, please. So I can do the work faster. Thanks.

That's all for now~.

Another fun and fulfilling year of subbing projects... Though we had a few, I really enjoyed the projects of 2013 - Kodoku no Gurume S3, Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi and Amachan, etc. Hope we could still find some great dramas to sub for 2014...

Good thing Mahoro will be back for a second movie called "Mahoro Eikmae Kyosokyoku." Yay! My favorite duo, tsukkomi Tada and boke Gyoten!
And for sure, Kodoku will also be back for an S4.
As for Amachan... I just had fun watching the cast reunite in the recent Kouhaku. :D
Not really anticipating a sequel anytime soon though. (I personally think all the cast and crew need to rest). Besides, it'll be a tremendous effort to reunite that big a cast, considering each will be busy doing other things. But I still can rewatch the show when Amaloss hits me from time time. Anyway, for those who enjoyed the Trivia Notes I made for Amachan, I'll be posting more Notes in the future. Please wait for it. :DDD

And also wait for our new year subs for Kagiheya SP!!
Thank you for spending time with danburi and me...
Wishing you a Happy 2014, everyone~!
