Soup Curry Ep. 9: Drama Notes

Episode Synopsis. Miura Yuji (cram school teacher) wakes up in a hospital with bandages around his neck and head. He finds Minori, his fiancee, at his side, who explains to him that an ambulance brought him to the hospital from the batting center. The last thing he can remember was he was shouting and releasing pent-up emotions when he struck a home-run. Then, he lost consciousness after a ball shot out of a pitching machine, and hit him on the head. "What were you shouting?" Minori asks...
In the meantime...
Wada Shingo (teishoku owner) has now started to come up with his original soup curry dish, Egg Rolls Soup Curry. However, he could not somehow recapture the taste of his father's own special egg rolls...
Chieko, the daughter of Urata Hiroshi (actor / house husband) decides to finally go on-line and watch the video of her dad's much-talked about emotional scene from his drama...
Igarashi Seiji (cooking expert /TV host) demonstrates how to make an Indian-style soup curry with tomatoes and fried vegetables...
And lastly, Hirame Kiyoshi (KanKonSoSai planner) meets up with Yamashita and asks how things are after the failed divorce ceremony...

Drama Notes:
Soup Curry as Health Food. When used in larger quantity, spices are also a good source of minerals, including iron, magnesium, calcium, etc. Many herbs and spices, like cumin and ginger, used in soup curry also have anti-oxidants.

Tamagoyaki. This sweet Japanese rolled omelette is prepared using eggs, dashi soup stock and sugar. It is usually cooked in a rectangular pan called makiyakinabe. Various fillings can also be added.

Suage. It is one of three ways of frying food (agemono). Suage is frying foods "without a coating of flour or batter, is appropriate for freshwater fish, eggplant, green peppers and other vegetables whose color and shape can be utilized to good effect." Other two agemono ways are karaage (coated with flour or starch before frying) and tempura (dredged in batter before frying).
