Kuruma Isu de Boku wa Sora wo Tobu (I will Soar in the Skies in my Wheelchair) is a drama special aired 25 August 2012 on NTV as part of the network's annual 24Hour television charity marathon. Hasebe Yasuyuki (Ninomiya Kazunari) is an aimless, rebellious man who was just about to turn his life around when his world suddenly crashes. He gets into an unfortunate accident, causing paralysis on the lower half of his body. He begins his unwanted life as a paraplegic in a hospital. There he meets counselor Hideaki (Iseya Yusuke) and other individuals who help him cope with his disability, and enable him to get back into society. However, his feelings of anguish, pride, and frustration, plus his strained relationship with his mother, Haruko (Yakushimaru Hiroko), get in the way of his emotional recovery. Despite having their own dilemmas, young cancer patient Daisuke (Suzuki Fuku), fellow paraplegic Takehiro (Ikematsu Sosuke), and store clerk Kumi (Ueto Aya), all try to befriend him, and to make him open up. But will Yasuyuki really ever find peace and happiness within the limited confines of a wheelchair-bound life?
