Character Spotlight: Manga characters who didn't make the cut

Mayumi-chan (above pic, 3rd from left). One of the regular characters in the manga who did not become part of the live action drama (so far). A plus-sized woman who is forever on a 'see-saw' diet. She would successfully lose weight, only to gain it all back in time.
Shima-san (2nd from left). Said to be a sailor with a rather tearfully sentimental personality. He always wears a horizontally-striped shirt, a look which Adachi Saya somehow 'inherited.'

Drama Notes:
Hiyashi Chuuka (cold noodles). Literally means, 'cold Chinese.' It's a dish usually served during summer, and mainly consists of ramen noodles, topped with sliced ingredients (ham, tamagoyaki, cucumber, carrot, chicken) and doused in tare sauce.

Yamashita Yosuke. A jazz pianist and composer.
(info: wiki)
Japan Hiyashi Chuuka Lovers Association (Zen Nihon Hiyashi Chuka Aiko-kai). Yamashita did spearhead a group that comprised fellow enthusiasts of cold noodles. These included famous personalities like science fiction writer, Tsutsui Yasutaka, and actor, Tamori. Though short-lived (1975-1979), the group held annual hiyashi chuuka festivals, and even put out a publication. (info: ja.wiki)
