Here are the translation notes to "Jashin no Tenbin":

Introduction:

This drama is a spin-off of the "Satsujin Bunsekihan" or "Homicide Analysis Team" series of detective novels by Asami Kazushi that were adapted previously for TV by WOWOW. They were all subbed by avieamber/ritsu (avanpiper@twitter).

If you don't have time to watch them all, I suggest you watch the 1st one to get an understanding and background of Section 11 of Division 1 and their group dynamics, and Inspector Takano's character. And then, watch the 4th installment, because it has some connection to this latest drama, and explains why Takano chose to be transferred to Public Security.
Asami started a spin-off series, "Kouan Bunseki-han" (Public Security Analysis Team), this time with Takano as protagonist, with the release of 2 novels in 2021: "Jashin no Tenbin" (Scale of an Evil God), and "Nisegami no Shinpan" (Judgment of a False God). These are the what this latest drama is based on.

Jashin no Tenbin: Subbing Project (Complete)

Jashin no Tenbin ~ Kouan Bunseki-han (Feb to Apr 2022, WOWOW) is based on the novel by Azumi Kazushi, which is part of his "Public Security Analysis Unit" series. Police Inspector Takano Hideaki (Aoki Munetaka), formerly from Division 1, Criminal Investigation Department of the MPD, has been transferred recently to MPD's Public Security Bureau. A bombing suddenly occurs in Akasaka, and a politician, Shindo Kengo, is killed in the confusion. The body's organs are removed. Found at the scene is a hanging balance scale with a bird's feather on one plate, and the victim's heart on the other. A tablet with hieroglyphs carved on it was left on top of the body as well. Takano begins his investigation, but he fails to adjust to the ways of Public Security which has its own way of investigation. Despite such setback, Takano continues to use a different way to solve the case. He learns that his co-workers from Public Security does not make good team players despite each having high capabilities. However, before the perpetrator of the Akasaka incident is caught, a second incident occurs, where a university professor is murdered in the same grotesque manner...
