MahoEkiBan Ep 9: Drama Notes

Episode Synopsis. The town of Mahoro is all abuzz about the incident involving a teen girl turned fugitive after allegedly killing her stepfather. The person who saw her last was her friend, a young pretty high school girl, who in turn is questioned by cops and the media. This unwanted attention causes a problem for the pretty girl's boyfriend who happens to be a head of a local Yakuza gang. The gang boss goes to his old friend Tada for help. "I don't want any trouble," he says. "I want you to hide her here for awhile." Tada wants to refuse but is in dire need of money to settle all of his unpaid bills. Later, Gyoten stays and looks after the pretty teen while Tada takes on a secret errand...

Ushijima The Loan Shark. "Yamikin Ushijima Kun" is a manga made into a live action drama series and movie. According to Asianwiki, the main character, Ushijima "runs Kaukau Finance, a black market lending agency which scourges its clients with interest rates as high as 50% for 10 days. Ushijima chases down his debtors, who normally come from the bottom of society, with ruthless efficacy."

Filming location. The drama's filming location is Machida City. Acc. to wikitravel, Machida is located "within Tokyo prefecture, Japan. The city is located to the west of Tokyo's 23 downtown wards, bordering on Kanagawa." The author of "Mahoro" novels, Miura Shion is a native of Machida, and used it as the basis for Mahoro.
