Episode 6: "Locked Room Theater"

Episode Synopsis. Serizawa's secretary Mizuki Rina (Nounen Rena) is part of a theater group. Enomoto and Aoto go to see her perform in a play called "Prisoner of the Locked Room." However, after the play ends, a dead body is discovered in one of the backstage dressing rooms. Among the people present, three people had no alibi, and one of them is Rina's boyfriend...
The victim was one of the performers of the theater group. He was fatally struck on the head with a wooden sword. It happened during the time when the play was in session. There were two ways the culprit could have fled. One is through a passage where he could have been spotted by a staff. Another is by crossing the stage where the play was being held. However, no one was seen passing through these two passages. So how did the killer escape?

Ep. 6 Clues and Hints:

What was Enomoto reading? One of the books was "The Invisible Gorilla: And Other Ways Our Intuition Deceive Us" written by Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons. It was translated in Japanese as "The Science of Illusion" (above). It is about how cognitive illusions affect our perception, decisions and behavior. And what is an 'invisible gorilla?' Watch this clip to find out.

Hot stuff... "People who sweat a lot are said to have good metabolism, right? Do I sweat a lot, I wonder? So yeah. In terms of the seasons, as it's just a little over mid-May, the weather's gotten warmer, hasn't it? Then for the drama filming, it's about locked rooms, right? Well, it really IS a locked room. Things like coolers or electric fans are all switched off since they'd make too much noise... Not only that but I'm usually dressed in sweaters and stuff. It's HOT. (laughs) And in the midst of all that, my jerseys tend to be pretty thick. They're the winter type, so it's hot as it is. Mm. Which is why my forehead is generally prickling with sweat. So in terms of bodies, sweat springs to mind... But it's often the case with renewal, well, in short, replacing old things. So people gradually end up with new things, right? I'm the opposite. I treasure old things. Things that you keep hanging on to, that sort of thing. Mm."

Illuminated Dance. The Tron-like performance at the play was done by the 8-men Japanese dance crew, Wrecking Crew Orchestra. Above clip is a sample of their performance.
