Kyokuhoku Rhapsody: Subbing Project (Complete)

Kyokuhoku Rhapsody (NHK, Winter 2013) is based on the "Kyokuhoku" novels from "Team Batista" author Kaido Tekaru. Eita plays Imanaka Yoshiro, the only doctor left at a public hospital in Kyokuhoku, a fictional city in far northern Hokkaido. The hospital is financially strapped and is in dire need of a major overhaul. In comes Dr. Sera Masashi (Kobayashi Kaoru) who was appointed as the new hospital director. He is known to have successfully saved other troubled hospitals from folding up. Yet, he is also called "Monster Doctor" for his uncompromising stance on health care and strict cost-cutting measures which include salary-cuts, closing of the inpatient ward, and refusing to accept emergency patients. "Don't take hospitals for granted..." he is heard shouting in front of patients. "Stop sponging off others for your health!" Imanaka welcomes his ideas initially but soon clashes with him as Sera's drastic changes are put into effect at the hospital, resulting to one unfortunate consequence... Meanwhile, Imanaka finds out that his girlfriend Namiki Kozue (Kato Ai), a local hairdresser, is the estranged daughter of Sera. Kozue's maternal grandfather is sick and requires dialysis treatment at the hospital. However, as part of his reforms, Sera will be closing the hospital's dialysis unit, too...
