Ep. 25: "Bean Vermicelli Salad"

Episode Synopsis:
One rainy spring night, single mother Miho (Tsuji Kaori) comes to Master's shop with her elementary school classmate and best friend, Sayuri (Awata Urara). The two are serving as organizers of their school reunion, in which they're supposed to dig up the time capsule that their class had buried 25 years ago. Sayuri asks Master to make vermicelli salad for her. The dish reminds Miho of their classmate, Shiga (Majima Hidekazu) who loved it very much. Actually, Sayuri admits she only came to love the dish because she had a crush on Shiga... Later on, the two women get to meet Shiga again, via their class reunion. Miho suggests to Sayuri to ask Shiga out since he is still single...

Negi abura [
ネギ油] (Green onion oil). Condiment that can be used for many dishes like ramen and fried rice. It can be store bought or make one yourself. Recipe (and pic above) is from cookpad's cooking s papa: Get one bundle of green onions and wash. Once it's sufficiently dry, cut into 5 mm width. Use only the green parts. In a frying pan, heat up 100cc of salad oil and and put the green onions plus one piece of sliced ginger and simmer for 25 minutes at very low heat. Stir occasionally. When finished, strain it using a colander. Place the oil in a jar and cover with a lid.

Expo 1970 (Osaka). The first world's fair held in Japan. About the time capsule buried there, wiki says: "Additionally, there is a time capsule that is to be left for 5,000 years and opened in the year 6970. The capsule was donated by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co." This concept of burying time capsules at world's fairs started with the two Westinghouse Time Capsules buried during the New York World's Fairs of 1939 and 1964, both of which are to be opened in 6939.

Now why could I just see it coming that the girl who loved the guy was not going to end up with him? And he would end up being with her best friend? That's the theme this season it seems. Things not working out how hoped for. However, it works out for other people who aren't trying for it at first.

However vermicelli salad doesn't make me want to make it at home haha.

Again, thanks for all your hard work making the subs and the notes!! You're the best!!! :)
