After Mahoro....

I know it's highly unusual for me to be promoting something other than stuff that I sub. But I can't help it...
After Mahoro, I can't help feeling withdrawal pangs. *sobs~Tadaaah~Gyo~ten*
So I've beenstalking checking and finding out what our two boys have been up to lately.
As of now, Eita is busy doing a stage play...
While Matsuda Ryuhei is starring in a much awaited movie that's gonna be shown tomorrow in Japan.
Directed by Ishii Yuya, "Fune wo Amu" (Assemble the boat) or "The Great Passage" (its official English title) is based on the award-winning novel by "Mahoro" author, Miura Shion-sensei-chan.
So for those, like me who still can't let go of "Mahoro", here's something we can look forward to.

Aside from the remarkable Ryuhei, it stars Odagiri Joe, Kobayashi Kaoru, and Miyazaki Aoi.
Matsuda plays a nerdish, socially-awkward man who was working at a sales department of a book publishing company when he got entrusted with helping out in editing and compiling a new dictionary. He may have an uncanny knack for lexicography but is at a loss for words when he's faced with his landlady's daughter (Aoi). Looks like an intelligent light comedy with a bit of romance thrown in.So for those, like me who still can't let go of "Mahoro", here's something we can look forward to.

I think we'll see some more Mahoro in one form or another, whether that's tv or a movie....or both!..........do you know if there are more books around these characters?
Also, I can't wait for The Great Passage!
Re: Yusaku matsuda
So far, only two Mahoro books have been published. But Miura Shion is said to be working on the third installment, with some new stories serialized in weekly magazine Shukan. Title I believe is "Mahoro Ekimae Kyōsō-kyoku." But that was in 2010 to 2011, though. No new developments as of yet, maybe because she was busy with Fune wo amu.
Re: Yusaku matsuda
Do check out Yusaku, he has a seriously good screen presence, Detective Story is up on D-Addicts and The Family Game movie is available with subs.....there's also a documentary on him called Soul Red (I think that's the title)
Mahoro Ekimae Kyōsō-kyoku sounds like it will be a prequel or something.
Also I'm really looking forward to I'm Flash which is the first time Ryuhei has worked with the director Toshiaki Toyoda since the movie 9 Souls.
Re: Yusaku matsuda
I think the movie was based on the first book but not sure know how much changes the screenwriter made with it.
For the drama, ep. 5, 9 and 10 were from Book 1 while ep. 8 and 11 were from Book 2. The rest were original stories from the director or with his co-writers.
I will check out Matsuda's works someday. I even haven't seen Black Rain. He seems really intriguing. :)
Thank you for the update!
