Kyou no Hi wa Sayonara: Subbing Project
Kyou no Hi wa Sayonara (24 August 2013, NTV) is a drama special shown for NTV's annual 2013 24TV Marathon. It is based on Miyuki Kazuya's "Oozora e no Tabidachi Gan to Tatakai Nagara mo Yume Miteita Mirai." Ohno Satoshi plays a Fujioka Kota, a man who has a lot of things to look forward to in his young life. He just started a path towards becoming a cook. His dad, Kenjiro (Miura Tomokazu) and mom, Yasuko (Kishimoto Kayoko) are both kind and understanding parents. His older sister Koharu (Mimura) is engaged, yet still likes to dote on him. He also has a loving girlfriend, Etsuko (Kimura Fumino). However, he is suddenly diagnosed with having malignant lymphoma (cancer of the blood). The doctor tells him he has an 80% chance to beat the illness through chemotherapy. The odds seem pretty good, and his family and girlfriend are hopeful. Kota starts undergoing treatment which proves to be a difficult ordeal. Still, his loved ones do their best to support him, but pretty soon his predicament affects each of them as well. In the hospital, he meets other people who help him: Harada Nobuo (Yamada Ryosuke) a fellow cancer patient and Okubo Yuriko (Fukada Kyoko), a counselor. Kota strives to get better yet eventually the odds of winning against the illness begin to lessen...
