 "Grace no Rireki" is a Premium Drama Presentation of NHK (Spring, 2023). Hasumi Kikuo (Takito Kenichi) sees his wife off as she leaves for Narita Airport in her cherished red classic Japanese sports car, which she fondly nicknamed "Grace". The wife, Minako (Ono Machiko), is headed for a solo voyage to Europe. Ten days later, the bus she was in, meets a tragic accident in the south of France. Her car's navigation system, which was left behind as a memento of her death, contained a record of a week long trip to various places in Japan, before she left the country, and without her husband's knowledge. A blank week, a woman's secret journey... Kikuo embarks on a long trip to trace the car navigation history in order to solve this mystery... Fujisawa, Matsumoto, Omihachiman, Onomichi, Matsuyama... As Kikuo follows the beautiful Japanese landscapes in this classic car, he encounters one by one the people his wife went to meet for mysterious reasons. He learns that traveling, like life, is something that doesn't always go as planned. There could be sudden accidents, inconvenient ones or serendipitous, a familiar place revisited or a road less traveled, as well as unexpected, life-changing encounters...

Loved this peculiar Drama on what True Love looks like. This is not a story about "boy meets girl" but a pondering on what Love (as doing what is best for the other person) is, mixed with the ironies of Life itself, its transience and unexpected turns.

The female lead is strong and independent, but also selfless and full of love. She knows what she has to do and executes it despite (or perharps because of?) her own frailty.
