Ep. 3: "The sourpuss President is embarrassed to confess to the newbie... His secret plan to switch on her love is..."

Episode Synopsis. Reiji (Ohno Satoshi) learns that Misaki (Haru) and Wada (Kitamura Kazuki) met before in Paris. They even reportedly dined together in a restaurant. Reiji feels frustrated and jealous. "Of all people, why does it have to be Wada!" he whines. Muraoki (Koike Eiko) once again tells him not to worry, since Misaki and Wada's "relationship" might just be on a professional level... Later on, Reiji announces he will start a new hotel branch in Tokyo. He solely scouts potential sites for this new venture, vowing to finish it in two days. His employees are amazed by his diligence and hard work. However, the truth is, he is trying to impress Misaki...

Drama Notes:

Newszero. A news program at NTV (same network as the drama) shown daily (Mon-Fri) at 11 pm. "Sakurai-kun" is of course Sakurai Sho who is in charge of the segment "Ichimen!" in the program during Mondays.

Yuasa Gosuke [湯浅五助]. He served as a vassal of warlord Otani Yoshitsugu during the Sengoku Period. When Otani lost a battle, he is forced to commit suicide and bequeath his head to the enemy. According to the story, Otani made Gosuke promise to protect his head since his face was distorted by leprosy, and is ashamed of it. So Gosuke assisted in his suicide but instead of offering his lord's head, he buried it in the woods. He then killed himself, and arranged to have his head be given to the enemy instead.

Lammtarra. The name of the drink that Wada ordered for Muraoki. "Lammtarra" is the name of an undefeated racehorse during the 90s. In 1996, Lammtarra was bought by Japanese breeders for 30 million pounds and brought to Japan in 1996 to serve as a stud. In 2006, the horse was bought back by his original owner and returned to England. It died in 2014.

Tamogitake [タモギタケ]. The photo of the mushroom submitted by Reiji to a magazine, and won "honorable mention". It's also called "golden oyster mushroom".

What was actually said. During the Shiritori game, I had to change the dialogue to best convey the scene in English. What they actually said was:
Misaki: "Narita Kokusaikukou" (Narita International Airport)
Muraoki: "U? U... Usagi" (Rabbit)
Ishigami: "Gi... Gingham Chekku" ("Gingham Check" is a title of a song by AKB48, that is why Misaki said "Wow!" since she didn't expect Ishigami would know such a song)
Reiji: "Ku..ku.. Kurashikku ongaku" (Classical music)
Ishigami: "The president is on the ku attack!" (Since Reiji used "ku" again)
Reiji: "It just happened."
Misaki: "Ku... ku.. Kubiakatorakamikiri!" (Red necked tiger beetle) I finally memorized it!"
Muraoki: "Ri... Risu." (squirrel)
Ishigami: "Please be enthusiastic!" (Since Muraoki is only giving short common words unlike the interesting ones the others gave)
