After Mahoro....

I know it's highly unusual for me to be promoting something other than stuff that I sub. But I can't help it...
After Mahoro, I can't help feeling withdrawal pangs. *sobs~Tadaaah~Gyo~ten*
So I've been stalking checking and finding out what our two boys have been up to lately.
As of now, Eita is busy doing a stage play...
While Matsuda Ryuhei is starring in a much awaited movie that's gonna be shown tomorrow in Japan.
Directed by Ishii Yuya, "Fune wo Amu" (Assemble the boat) or "The Great Passage" (its official English title) is based on the award-winning novel by "Mahoro" author, Miura Shion-sensei-chan.

Aside from the remarkable Ryuhei, it stars Odagiri Joe, Kobayashi Kaoru, and Miyazaki Aoi.
Matsuda plays a nerdish, socially-awkward man who was working at a sales department of a book publishing company when he got entrusted with helping out in editing and compiling a new dictionary. He may have an uncanny knack for lexicography but is at a loss for words when he's faced with his landlady's daughter (Aoi). Looks like an intelligent light comedy with a bit of romance thrown in.
So for those, like me who still can't let go of "Mahoro", here's something we can look forward to.

You should check out Ryuhei's dad, Yusaku's movies and tv if you haven't already, been watching the tv show Tantei Monogatari a little bit and have watched The Family Game (movie)

I think we'll see some more Mahoro in one form or another, whether that's tv or a movie....or both!..........do you know if there are more books around these characters?

Also, I can't wait for The Great Passage!

Thank you for the update!

(rootabega) Can't wait to see "Fune wo amu". If I was in Japan, that's one movie I'd shell out 1800 yen to see. I'm sure it would make for a very challenging/interesting subbing project.

oh man, I LOVE MATSUDA RYUHEI. he picks really great projects imho. loved his drama "ashita no kita yoshio" which is still one of my all time favourite dramas. though i still have to watch his drama with eita (been really out of the jdrama loop lately, i gotta say), but this movie looks great. and i love aoi miyazaki, so win/win. cheers for the heads up!
