Sapporo's Soup Curry Boom. Sapporo's love affair with soup curry began in the 1970s when the owner of a cafe called Ajanta (still open up to now) decided to add Indian curry to a Chinese herbal soup recipe and served it to his customers. Later on, upon the request of a customer, he added chicken to the dish, and thus, the earlier form of soup curry was born. They used to call it "nutritional curry" and other names. But it was only in 1993 when the first restaurant specializing on this dish opened its doors to the public. It was called "Magic Spice" and coined the term "soup curry." It was then that the soup curry boom started and by now, there is said to be 200 soup curry shops in Sapporo alone.

Soup Curry Moon. It is a fictional shop made up for the drama. The setting was filmed in a real soup curry shop in Tokyo called Tokyo Rakkyo Bros. The name "moon" is derived from the fictional character owner's last name, Wakatsuki, with "tsuki" meaning "moon."
Allspice. Despite its name, allspice consists of only one spice. The name was coined in the 1600s due to a wrong assumption that it contained three spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves). It's actually the dried unripe fruit of the Pimenta dioica plant, and a common ingredient in Caribbean cuisine.

Importance of Food Presentation. In Japanese cuisine, presentation of a dish is important as its taste. It is thought that the more appealing and lovely the food looks, the more it will taste delicious.
